The presence of a major road not far from the ocean has become an unofficial divider in many areas of the county. Simply put, an address west of the 5 has cache that those east of the 5 do not. (In some areas of north county, you may even be asked if you live east or west of the 101.) For these reasons, you may want to live west of the 5. That's why we took the time and effort to develop a RELIABLE west of I-5 list. There is an indicator in the MLS that specifies west of I-5, but we do not use it because many agents, especially new listing agents, do not know about the field or forget to specify it. Our list is built off our exclusive mapping capabilities. We took the time to create a detailed mathematical description of the position of the 5 as it traverses San Diego County. It took nearly 50 different segments! What does this mean? We compare each listing's latitude/longitude with the known coordinates of the Interstate. That's why our list is reliable--It's based on the known location of the home rather than whether or not an agent keyed in a field into the MLS. |
